Reading Update: I Love You So Mochi: Where I’m at and How I’m Feeling About It

Inspiration board for dream cast of Kimi

“I want to find that passion,” I blurt out. I feel instantly embarrassed, saying something so personal, something that comes from so deep inside my gut. But now that I’ve said it, I might as well keep going. “I mean. Something that I can run toward in the same way. I want that for my future.

Kimi in Chapter 7 of I Love You So Mochi by Sarah Kuhn

I’m really falling in love with this book. Madly, truly, deeply. It’s so crazy how books can do that to us and yet this one I definitely didn’t pick up expecting me to fall for it head over heels. I’m talking, I’ve laughed, cried, all kinds of things since I started reading this. And that’s not all. It’s really hitting home for me as a “find yourself/daughter of an artist/also someone who does their own art” kinda thing. It speaks to me in ways I didn’t know it would and it both rattles and excites me. It’s a feel good book but also has those deeply meaningful parts where it just gets you. It’s relatable. And as Kimi goes on her journey of self discovery in Japan alongside her new, very cute sounding friend Akira, gosh I can’t help but wonder about my own future with my art and whether or not I’ll go back to school for it as well. So like I said guys, this book hits home. It’s beautiful and I can’t recommend it enough. I would give it 20/5 stars on goodreads if I could because it’s bringing out all the feelings. I’m so glad I chose to own it too because it means so much to me now. And as I continue my way through this journey not only with a Kimi, but with myself, I hope it just gets better and better as I go. And as always, happy reading. -Caroline
