ARC Review: Meant To Be Immortal by Lynsay Sands!

Okay, so first off, I don’t usually do reviews on books that I felt like completely tanked in my opinion, but here we are. This book, is apparently number 32 in a whole series. And no, I have never read the rest of the series and after just a few pages of this particular one, it’s safe to say I never will. It is extremely rare for me to DNF a book before even the first chapter, but again, here we are. Cover art is unimpressive to me. It appears to be what I assume is a male vampire in the shower? And in my opinion, if he’s a vampire, shouldn’t he be doing something far more exciting and relevant than being in the shower? On the cover? Was this trying for sex appeal, because I found it completely unattractive and not sexy. I did actually LOL out loud when some of the first words of the Prologue stated that yes, while vampires are immortal, they can still be burnt to a crisp. And the fact that the said vampire in the Prologue is cowering in a bathtub waiting for mortals to save him from said fire, yeah. Not sexy. Complete turnoff. I never do the whole let’s judge a book before the first chapter thing, but this one. Apparently it’s special. 3/5 stars. It’s a no go for me. Hopefully the next ARC review will go much, much better. Until next time. happy reading. -Caroline

ARC Review: The Little Swiss Ski Chalet by Julie Caplin!

And I’m back folks, with another ARC review for ya! This time it’s all about Julie Caplin’s new book, The Little Swiss Ski Chalet! It’s the newest book in her romance series that I was really, really looking forward to reading. I have read a few of the other books in the series, and I had yet again, high hopes for this one. Unfortunately though, my high hopes fell a bit flat honestly. I found myself bored because it was basically the same exact premise as her other books, just new character names and a new slightly exotic, romantic location. Reasons I was disappointed: Well, to start with, it began like almost all of the others, no spoilers but I don’t think this really is much of one, it started with a bad breakup. So bad breakup leads to big, new exciting life change for main character. Sounds great, right? I guess for some it might be but when you review enough romance books and recognize very, very familiar themes each time, it kinda kills the mood. This one, I felt could’ve been much more original. Was it good? I guess. But was it what I was looking forward to? No. I would rate this book a solid 3/5 stars on the Goodreads scale. And although that’s not terrible, let’s just say it could’ve been better. Well, that’s all I got for now. Until next time, happy reading. -Caroline

A little Bit of Delving Into the Confusion of my last Post, And what is coming up on the Blog!

Alright folks. Lemme just give you all an update in general, why I’m slightly confused about my last post, and what the heckin is all going on over here. So, let me start with saying, that today is the day that I’ve come out as Asexual to my friends and family. It’s a big step for me and it’s been kind of an uncomfortable one. Second, I’m not only blogging about reviewing books, but I’m also in the process of writing my own. Four different novel ideas are what I’m kicking around right now. And they’re all very rough at the moment in the beginning stages, but I figured I’d update you when I could. Two are going to be YA genre, and the other two will be more Adult General Fiction genre. Next on the agenda to discuss, my recent post about doing the Selection series over again. Well, let’s just say I’ve rethought that idea and have come to the conclusion that since we’ve already done that fairly recently, we probably don’t need to rehash it right now. It’s also occurred to me that I’ve been delving back into familiar, safe series that I love because I’ve had a lot of personal turmoil going on in my life recently. Which as a blogger, and author myself, turmoil or not, I’ve got to put that aside and step outside my comfort zone. Which is where the next announcement comes in. The following list is the ARC books that I will be reviewing on here in a timely manner.

  • Sandcastle Beach by Jenny Holiday
  • The Seal’s Pregnant Christmas Lover by Leslie North and Katie Knight
  • Shine Your Icy Crown by Amanda Lovelace
  • Little French Bridal Shop by Jennifer Dupee
  • Night of the Vampire by L.E. Wilson
  • The Little Swiss Ski Chalet by Julie Caplin
  • The Lake House by Christie Barlow

Now with that said, those are the ones that I’ll currently be reading and reviewing so I’ll keep you updated on their progress and reviews as they happen. It’s quite a mix, I know. I felt like a mix this time. It works though. So, keep a lookout for more posts as they come on those. I will be focusing on ARC reviews for the time being. And also updates about my own writing as an author and the creative process that goes along with it. So get excited, get hyped and as always, happy reading. -Caroline
